WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
In 2016 the Svedish Company Softube released a new series of plugins for Mastering. One of these is the Drawmer S73 inspired to the Drawmer 1973, a multi-band compressor.

WHAT IS THAT?
It’s a simplified version of the Drawmer 1973, where all parameters are traded with a a set of styles. It would be like using a multiband plugin with presets. It has a fine place in the mastering chain, but it also have a decent spot on the mix buss, group channels and maybe even individual tracks.

LET’S TAKE A LOOK !!!

VU Meters on top! In the second section there are the main parameters:
–  AMOUNT knob allows you to adjust the amount of effect applied by the plugin
–  AIR obviously adds those high frequencies we associate with air
–  STYLE has a selection of different finalization algorithms.
– MIX allows you to use the plugin in series (in WET position) or in parallel, with a percentage of your choice

FOCUSING ON STYLE
CLEAN
Depending on what you need you can choose between the 5 basic clean compression styles, each of which give a different flavor to the overall sound. Focusing on Neutral style, it’s perfect for sticking tracks together.
BASS CONTROL
Two algorithms: De-Rumble can often kill your low end more than clean it up, but Punch works great! If you’re looking for more kick in your drums or a tighter bass sound, it’s amazing how well this setting does the job. If you’re doing EDM, you’ll quickly fall in love with this one.
SPATIAL
Focusing on the preset Vocal Enhance, it does his job, but be careful as it can often make the vocal harsh. You have to be careful with the “amount” and “mix” settings. Ambience algorithm is amazing. It manages to bring out all the subtle sounds that get buried under the main tracks.
